Hey everyone! I completely forgot to blog there for a while, as I was doing some secret projects and commissions. But today I have a great reason to blog today!
I got a photo light box for taking pictures of my crafts. YAY! Now I can look all professional like on my blog. It came with a white and a black foam background, and it plugs into the computer usb to light up. The light is a great cool colour and shows the colours of the objects closely.
The box is foldable for easy storage, and did fit together with magnets, but I was a bit wary of the magnets near the computer, which I have to plug it into. I cut the magnets out, and used glue dots and pegs to keep it together until I can find some Velcro to glue onto it.
Good thing I have so many things to photograph.
Stay snappy, my sheeple 🙂
Last year, on my birthday, my parents bought me a packet of images to colour, they are awesome, because they turn into a second image, as you fold along the score lines. I recently found them again, while cleaning, and started colouring this image. It was a small challenge, as I had to think of the image and how colouring would affect the second image.
For example, I picked a fairly light brown, which would be both suitable for a cake and candle. The shading couldn’t come in from the sides too far, as it wouldn’t work for both images. I also had to make the icing match the cake, as wax dripping would be the same colour as the candle.
While everyone is wrapped up in the new Pokemon Go release, they are going crazy finding their favourite Pokemon. Luckily my favourite was the first I caught – Bulbasaur. (Technically wasn’t me first, as I was a beta tester, but they wiped that progress, so first for this time.) I used coloured pencils on grey toned paper.
While I’m here, I might as well post this, as I forgot to post it the other day. I used Copic and coloured pencils on grey tone paper. I had to flip the image in Photoshop, so I could draw the portrait. As I am right handed, it’s easier to draw curves on the left side of the page, so I usually draw people facing to the left.
I now have a clean craft room, so once I’ve recovered from the cleaning, I can get to doing more. I continued cataloguing my stamps and dies today. Unfortunately, my attempt to get rust off my dies failed. I’ll figure it out, but I don’t think they’ll last as long.
Gotta draw them all…
We are live people!
My design is available at the Spreadshirt online shop, named BioGlow. You can find it Here.
Yay! Now i have to go work on some of my more in depth designs.
(Ps. I made it into a men’s shirt, as they seem to have a better fit, and more sizes.)
Quick update, this is the brand of paper that I’ve been using. Also, the technique of scratching away a layer to reveal another colour, is called sgraffito, and it often used in pottery, when an enamel, or coating is applied, then scraped off in a pattern, showing the clay beneath it.
I went into the city to have lunch with my partner and go to the craft shops. I set aside two hours to shop, but I ran out of money in half an hour. I bought green and black fabric for the beanbag chair and also a zip for it.
I’d seen a few cards lately using a branch punch, so I wanted to see what I could do with one. Apart from wreaths and foliage behind flowers, it could be used for reindeer antlers, distant large trees… Or close up small trees. I was going to get the large one, which cost almost double, but this one is quite a nice size still (2.5cm/1 inch high.) If I need a larger amount of branches, I can just add more pieces.
I’m the kind of person who is rather clumsy, especially with food and always gets stains on my shirts. One of these shirts is a lovely white batman shirt with a lovely chocolate stain on Batman’s face. In an effort to cover this stain, I thought I could add a little artistic flair and add some yellow fabric marker to lessen the noticeability of the stain. I had a packet of sharpie fabric markers, but I didn’t have any yellows, which would suit not only this shirt, but a Transformers Bumblebee shirt that I’d like to add some colour to.
The only problem with buying this stuff today is, when I got home, I found out we have yet another inspection (a month early. :/) So my plans of completing my craft room properly, along with any other plans will be put on hold, and rushed to be tidy.
I don’t think they’ll believe we have two junk rooms…
So, I have a new blog.
This one is dedicated to creativity and the idea of creating something everyday to keep your imagination flowing healthily.
For those who don’t know me, I love art and craft, so hopefully there will be plenty of that here. Some cooking and game making may even turn up occasionally.
I’m a great procrastinator, so this will be a challenge, especially since I seem to have more bad days than good lately.
I thought it would be a good idea to start this now, since I’ve decided for some stupid reason, to make all the Christmas cards this year. I have my Boyfriend as my helper, and a list of about 30 cards to make.
Unfortunately, I don’t seem to finish many of my projects, so this may document some of my whacky experiments that I find interesting and if you’re lucky, some of my failures which don’t usually get seen by anyone.
On with the show!
